MR. DANNY MCFADDEN has been a CEDR Director (London) since 2004 and is dually qualified as a lawyer both in Australia and the UK.
In 2009, he was appointed Interim Director of Mediation at the United Nations in New York, mediating cases and this followed on from 2008, when he joined the United Nations Ombudsman’s New York Office in as an expert adviser on the establishment of a new Mediation Division. His Report formed part of the terms of reference for mediation in the new internal UN Justice System.
Since 2010 he has acted as the Asian Regional Mediator for the World Bank Group and he is currently in 2015 also the Regional Mediator to the United Nations in South East Asia.
Danny has worked as a trainer in many countries including Azerbaijan, China, Cameroon, Guyana, Hong Kong, Ireland, Mongolia, Singapore, Sweden, UK and the USA. He is a visiting Professor at Singapore Management University teaching International Dispute Resolution. He has provided consultancy to the legislatures of Hong Kong, China and Vietnam. Danny is a member of the Hong Kong Government’s Steering Committee on Mediation, HKMAAL Council Member, Law Society of England and Wales, UK Civil Mediation Council, International Bar Association, World Jurist Association and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He is currently in the Mediator Panels of World Bank, United Nations Mediation Division New York, ADR Chambers, Financial Dispute Resolution Centre Hong Kong, CEDR London, CEDR Asia Pacific Hong Kong, Shanghai Free Trade Zone Mediation Centre, Singapore International Mediation Centre, the CCPIT Mediation Centre Beijing and the International Mediation Institute (IMI).
He is an author of many articles on ADR and negotiation; in 2013 his book “Mediation in Greater China” was published by Kluwer Law. He was Editor of “Mediation in Singapore: A practical guide” a Sweet & Maxwell publication which was launched by the Chief Justice of Singapore in March 2015.
